 Taize

Good Shepherd Episcopal Church offers a monthly Taizé style service at 6:30 pm on the second Sunday of each month. This 45 minute service features prayers, meditation, scripture reading and the singing of simple, repetitive songs from the ecumenical monastic community at Taizé, France. All of this happens in a candlelit atmosphere, with beautiful icons. There is no offering and no commitment other than committing the 45 minutes to God.

I select the readings and prayers, and I usually lead the service. Jackson Hearn, Good Shepherd's Choirmaster, plans the music and leads the singing.

If you would like to receive an email reminder of the monthly service, email Jackson Hearn and ask to be added to that reminder list.

Click here to learn more about Taizé on the official web site of the monastic community. Taizé songs and podcasts can be found on this page of their web site.

I am suggesting the Taizé service as an option because the songs are short and repetetive, the atmosphere is quiet with one extended silence (about 5 minutes), and there is a sense of peace that many people enjoy.
