Caregiver Support Group

I facilitate this monthly support group for family members and caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia related disorders. We have been meeting since November of 2002. Group members encompass a variety of experience – women and men, spouses and children, early and late onset, early stage to end stage disease, cared for at home and in care facilities.

We are a discussion group rather than a speaker group. Click here to read about how the group works. Attendance typically is 10 to 20. We have the ability to split into two groups to accommodate large attendance. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 2929 Woodland Hills Dr., Kingwood, room 205. Click here to see our trifold brochure.

In addition to our support group meeting, we also have a Dinner Out each month at a local restaurant. This has proved to be a very popular activity, always an enjoyable evening!

If you wonder how you would benefit from attending a support group, check out this article "Caring for an Ill Spouse, and for Other Caregivers" from the New York Times series "The Vanishing Mind."
